Origin and traceability
The Junín plateau, in the central Peruvian Andes, is the historic agricultural zone for maca cultivation, documented in Andean food traditions for over two thousand years. AMAZON ANDES sources directly from associations of smallholder farmers on the Bombón highlands, paying above the cooperative reference price for the harvest year. Each batch is traceable to its harvest community and ships with phytosanitary certificate (SENASA Peru) and certificate of analysis covering heavy metals, microbiological load and pesticide residue.
Gelatinization process
The root is processed through a controlled thermal gelatinization step that hydrolyzes the starch fraction of the raw powder. The resulting material is more soluble and easier to digest than raw, untreated maca powder, and corresponds to the form traditionally consumed in Andean cuisine after open-fire roasting.
Recommended use
Two capsules daily, with or without food. As a food product, maca is part of the everyday diet in the Peruvian highlands; it integrates into smoothies, breakfast porridges and baked goods. Capsule presentation is offered for markets where powder format is less familiar.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, consume within six months for best organoleptic quality.
